Bait & Switch Scam |

Beware
of “bait & switch” gimmicks where companies
will quote you a low price over the phone but raise
the price substantially. This is commonly used on
spring replacements. Example: A customer calls and
ask how much does it cost to replace my garage door
springs? The garage door company quotes only $150.
The technician comes out and for some mysterious
reason the price is now $450-$550. If you can
actually get them to leave without them bullying you
into paying their price they insist you must pay a
"trip charge" just for coming out. Always
ask the company you call if they give free estimates
or charge a "trip charge".
